Daniel
F. Oscar is the President & CEO of PCLT. Daniel took
over the helm of the organization on June 1, 2009, upon the retirement
of founding president, Dr. Sharon Rose Powell. Daniel has an extensive
record of achievement in establishing and growing innovative educational
organizations. He was the President & Founder of The Learning
Project, a not-for-profit school management organization based in
New York City, and was one of the lead founders of Teach For America,
the national teacher corps. He also served as a Vice President of
Product Development for EdisonLearning (formerly Edison Schools).
Most recently Daniel worked as a consultant to a wide-range of education
organizations, including the Newark (NJ) Charter School Fund, Children's
Progress, and Wireless Generation, where he provided strategic consulting
on issues related to business development, educational technology,
student assessment, and charter schools.
Daniel was the founder of the Greater Newark Charter School, on whose board he now sits as a non-voting member. In addition, he serves on the Board of Directors of the New York Charter School Association. He holds an A.B. in Philosophy from Princeton University.
Sharon
Rose Powell, Ed.D., founder and senior advisor, is a licensed NJ psychologist. As an educator and leadership training
consultant for over 30 years, Dr. Powell has developed numerous
peer leadership models, beginning with the comprehensive Peer Group
Connection program in 1979. She is a frequent presenter at public
forums that focus on school reform initiatives, leadership training
and social concerns of adolescents and their families. Dr. Powell
is a contributing faculty member of the Graduate School of Applied
and Professional Psychology (GSAPP) at Rutgers University.
She received her doctorate in counseling psychology from the Graduate
School of Education (GSE) at Rutgers University and a masters degree
from the GSE at the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Powell
is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of North Carolina
at Chapel Hill where she received her bachelor of arts degree in
elementary education.
Abby Attias, Ph.D., is Vice President
of the Princeton Center for Leadership Training and Director of
REBEL 2, a statewide after-school anti-tobacco club for middle school
students in schools. She received her
doctorate in English from Rutgers University, prior to which she
was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of SUNY-Binghamton. In addition, Dr.
Attias has seven years of international experience in facilitating
corporate teams. Her research background includes a focus on race
relations in 20th century America.
Sherry L. Barr, Psy.D., is Vice President
of the Princeton Center for Leadership Training and Director of
the New Jersey Teen Prevention Program (Teen PEP). She received
her doctorate in school psychology from the Graduate School of Applied
and Professional Psychology (GSAPP) at Rutgers University, and is
a certified school psychologist in New Jersey. Dr. Barr completed
her doctoral internship at the Communication and Health Issues Partnership
for Education and Research at Rutgers University. She received her
bachelor of arts degree in psychology at Millersville University
in Pennsylvania.
