PARENT PROGRAMS

PLC reminds you of what’s really important in communicating with kids: looking at them, listening to them, and finding ways and making time to do that.

A Peer Leadership Program for Adults

PARENT LEADERSHIP CORPS (PLC) is a program focused on improving communication between adults and their children, in the interest of helping to prevent substance abuse by children and teens. A parent-to-parent approach is at the heart of PLC’s philosophy. Parent leaders from each community are provided with training that has two purposes:

  • to improve the ways they communicate with their own children, and
  • to enable them to lead workshops for other parents in their community

The interactive, highly engaging curriculum is being successfully implemented in schools and organizations around New Jersey.
